Pilot Site

Currently, The Needham Community Farm has a Pilot Site, located at 1147 Central Avenue, which is providing farm-based curriculum activities to Newman Elementary School students.  Activities have included starting seedlings, planting seedlings, learning about healthy soil and composting.  The Needham Community farm also provides adult education programs and over the past two summers has extended an open invitation to the entire community to join us for garden maintenance and learning all summer long.

Nike Site

The NCF hopes to build a working, sustainable farm at the Nike site in Needham. The farm would be used to provide farm-based education for the Needham Public Schools and, as part of the NCF’s broader mission, to encourage our community’s commitment to a sustainable future through environmental education, community building, outreach, and volunteerism.

The Nike site is located in the middle of woods, wetlands, and trails leading to Ridge Hill Reservation, making it a perfect location to demonstrate the many beneficial uses of our natural resources, the interconnectedness of these resources, and the importance of environmental stewardship.

    Hi,

    Last year, I had thought the Farm was opening up some plots for community involvement/rental for planting various veggies of choice? Has that program been scrapped, or is there a way to rent a plot?
